I am issuing a raincheck for all those who were awaiting the t-shirt blog fashion show that was scheduled for today (basically, just WIGSF).  The reason behind this cancellation is that all my good shirts are in the laundry, and I’m not showing off dirty shirts.  I have some class.

I’m watching the first Hellboy right now, never saw it before.  I’m about a half hour into it, and even though I swear I’ve been paying attention the entire time, I feel like there’s something I’m not getting, as if I missed an important plot point.  Let me just make sure I have it right:  the Nazis were trying to harness the power of Hell via Rasputin, the Brits stopped them, and they just happened to come upon Hellboy, whom is now trying to rid the world of evil.  This correct?  Because of if so… WTF.  Seriously.

Ah hell, I’ll just read the comic book and figure it out.  Yeah, comic book, whatever, I’m a nerd.

  • Um yeah, never saw Hellboy and never plan to. The same director did Pan’s Labyrinth, however, and that movie rules.

  • Nazis harnessing the power of Hell. Not another comic book character with that origin again. Sheesh. I guess Hellboy is related to that guy Captain America was always fighting. Red Skull or Red Baron or Red something. Well, that and Spider-Ham are the extent of my comic book knowledge.

  • Phil– I had that movie for MONTHS from Netflix, and I just never watched it. I finally got pissed and just sent it back, and then got pissed again for sending it without watching it. Previews looked amazing though.

WIGSF– You know more than I do.

  • I saw it in the theater because my honey wanted to see it. I had no idea what I was getting into, and I found it both thrilling and thought-provoking. Definitely a good combination.

  • Hellboy!

When Rasputin opens the gateway to Hell, the Brits force it to close, but not before something is able to slip through. Hellboy happens to be a high dark prince of hell and is destined to bring about the end of the world… except he was raised by humans, so he’s on our side and trying his best not to destroy the world.

The movie is okay, but the comics are fantastic (as is so often the case).
