Conversation I had with my 16-year-old cousin a few days ago:
Cousin: I just finished a really, really, really good book the other day.
Me: Oh really? What book?
Cousin: It was one your sister let me borrow… The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Ever heard of it?
Me: Hah, yeah, that’s my copy she has. It came out when I was in high school.
Cousin: Oh, well, I liked it a lot.
I gave The Perks Of Being a Wallflower to my sister three years ago. The last time I saw it, the cover is now taped on, the spine bent, pages dogeared. My sister has let a handful of her friends borrow it. I like that keeps getting passed along. Can I think of it as practice for when I’m a librarian and recommending books on a daily basis? That’s how I like to picture it.
I also like that my sister got the fourth season of The Office and that we’re currently watching it.

Have you seen the program for books that gives each book you own a number and information for a website that you can track its progress for where it goes? You have to give it away or sell it to a used bookstore, and people who get it have to go along with it, but it’s a pretty sweet idea.

No, that’s awesome! I’ll have to keep an eye out of it.
